agreed, the fact that usually we have several downloads for users speaks against the concept - didn't have that on my mind, but you are right.

Sadly, I see no real way of doing this nicely. We can open up a new window, so the initial download offer is in one tab/window, and the donate+download page in a second, so users could easily switch. But then, people often dislike if new windows are opened.

I have no real solution to that, agreed. I'd like to give it a try to see if it really brings massive improvements or not. When we see the outcome, we can still decide what to do. The current way is nothing I'd like to enforce, it's just a try, because we've been hearing quite often that "ask for donation while the download runs" would bring massive improvements, and other projects do this as well.
