I wonder why these strings are marked as translatable, because those are
the ASCII characters that you type in on the keyboard that shall be
replaced with proper typographic quotes if enabled. IMHO they should
never be translated.


I will keep such strings as unchanged.



I want to customize Catalan quotes (double and single) and enable them by
default. How can be this be achieved?

The actual replacement is determined from the locale data that is not
subject to pootle. In this case
i18npool/source/localedata/data/ca_ES.xml Markers QuotationStart/End and
DoubleQuotationStart/End, or see

Great!!! is there any way to enable smart quotes by default for a locale
(read Catalan)?
