Hi everyone,
I'll try to respond to everything in this one message -- please bear with
me.

Serious: in terms of Usability, I should not be asked to download a
Burmese font if I am most of my time in western languages.

So we must have a way to avoid the issue of a file that has just one
character in Burmese, perhaps by mistake, inside.

I agree that we need to offer the user a choice of which fonts to download
or to not download any at all.

However, I wouldn't say that it's an issue we need to bother with too much,
given that
1) it's highly unlikely that someone will accidentally use an open-source
Burmese font that's also available in Google Web Fonts or whatever online
repository we settle for
2) if it happens, you'll just have one additional font installed; look at
your font list right now and see how many fonts are actually of use to you

Actually I'd say that some kind of a mechanism to detect
accidental/residual styles and/or formatting could be useful (smaller
filesize? only saving used styles in a document?) - but would IMHO be
another separate issue.

I agree, and yes, it is a separate issue, so it's not on the list for the
first release.

Should the whiteboard only cover downloading Fonts that are already being
used in a document or also searching for new fonts when creating a document?

It can cover installing new fonts from the repository as well, yes.
I would keep it simple, though.

just about the Burmese font bit: that's not the in-development
feature. Rather than that, it is likely some sort of PackageKit
integration where LibO notices it isn't yet have a package for a
Burmese font installed and then asks you about that.

Actually, this is something separate from that -- it aims to integrate with
a platform-independent online repository like Google Web Fonts or the Open
Font Library.
