TDF Certification: comments and suggestions

We have discussed with Drew some possible issues and some US
specificities. We have agreed on the fact that is a challenge for the
project, but is something that we have to try if we want to make the
project self sustaining.

LibreOffice Conference: the marketing track

I would like to understand which are the preferences re the marketing
track. I personally think that we should have sessions where we discuss
global marketing issues (for instance, how to coordinate local projects
spanning several geographies) and sessions where we share experiences
(and grow our skills in specific areas, like media relations or
presenting in public).

TDF Media Pre-Briefings will start in July

We have received a couple of media requests for pre-briefings, and I
would like to start around July 10 with the pre-briefing dedicated to
the certification project (very short introduction, and then long Q&A
session). I would like to gather several community members for the
pre-briefings, in order to avoid the solo singer effect.

Drew, if I have missed something, or if it is too much a personal view,
please correct and update.

Hi Italo,

Well, there was a brief discussion with Charles regarding the upcoming
conference with one track using a BarCamp format (current plan), vs a
format with a full day as a BarCamp format - 2 days of traditional
conference format, 1 BarCamp day in other words.

On the subject of the certification proposal - I'm not sure I'd agree
with saying we agreed on a need to try in order to make the foundation
self sustaining.

I would say that the three of us agreed on the need to address building
an ecosystem of competent service providers and that whatever mechanism
the foundation puts in place should be self sustaining - however all
recognized that it will take a lot of effort both in human and monetary
capital to launch such a program.

There was also, at the end, a question regarding budgets for local
events. It was recognized that having FrODev.org as the current
responsible party for expenditures raises problems with dispersing funds
outside of their statutory region of operation. That this situation
should improve when TDF is finally legal and a need for a process to be
put in place for the purposes of requesting and authorizing funding for
local activities.

Thanks,

Drew
