Hi :)
The lock files should disappear when you close the document.  It's supposed to help prevent soemone 
else from editing the file at the same time as you or to prevent you from accidentally opening a 
copy of a file that you have already opened.  For example if you spent hours editing a document 
without saving it and then opened a copy without the editing then if you saved the 2nd copy after 
closing the first one then you would lose all your hours of editing.  


There is something seriously wrong with your machine if you can't open 2 documents at the same 
time.  Hopefully it's only the User Profile of LO that is so stuffed-up.

I forget whether you are using Windows or Gnu&Linux (Ubuntu or something).  Do you know how much 
Ram your machine has and how fast the Cpu is?  On Windows right-click on "My Computer" and choose 
"Properties" at the bottom of the right-click menu.  The "General" tab should show you how much ram 
it thinks you have.
