If I may help here. What Florian and Sophie agree on -or must agree on
- is that we need a wiki that's practical for non english
  native-speakers and that has no or a limited amount of spam.  We
  don't have to choose between either one of them.

If Wikimedia/Wikipedia have successfully managed to tackle these
challenges, then we must find out how they did it. 

Florian, if you agree, let's first have Jonathan check what's going on
at Wikimedia on these questions. Simon and I can also ping Wikimedia
for other contacts and let's see what it can bring.
