Snip.
I have been confirming some bugs, but the process is not clear.
So lets start with you - why haven't you been around on IRC? (Or if
you were around: why didn't you ask on IRC to be precise)

The timing was not good this session, I am UT +12hrs but had some appointments.

The wiki
page http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/BugTriage says to add a comment
to state confirmed. There is no way to search for unconfirmed.
Oh, there is - and I don't remember seeing a question on the IRC
channel regarding this.

On the (advanced) Search choose LibreOffice as product, and
"unconfirmed" as status, leave everything else blank (unless you want
to restrict the search further)

The
status can not be changed to unconfirmed or confirmed or VERIFIED. The
keywords cannot be set CONFIRMED. [...]
Ah, there's the problem - you need to use the advanced search form.

Those kind of questions would be welcome in a QA-session on IRC

Also, in the message you did fullquote, there is a link already that
shows the unconfirmed issues only:

I want to push interest in bug confirming.
Currently we have lots of bugs with status UNOCNFORMED, waiting for
confirmation:

<https://bugs.freedesktop.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED&product=LibreOffice>
You can use that link of course as well - that is exactly what you get
when you just select "LibreOffice" as product and UNCONFIRMED as
status and leave everything else untouched.

This is may be where I am confused or misunderstanding. The above search returns 17 bugs UNCO, but there are many bugs marked NEW, such as from random *3963* <https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3963>. This is NEW and there is no indication it is CONFIRMED, therefore I assume it is UNCONFIRMED but it is not in the search. If I confirm this bug, how do I mark it CONFIFMED. There is no confirmed, only VERIFIED and only 9 bugs are verified. I would assume the status of a new bug is automatically UNCONFIRMED. If it is then confirmed, the bug is VERIFIED and the status can be set. Can the system of bug processing be clarified.
