Hey,

I agree with James, structures should be settle up very soon! And we
should show this - in public!

My real point is, we cannot afford to stagnate, and cannot take 3-4 months
to really get the foundation set up, it needs to happen soon, or we will
fade away.
We also cannot promote LibreOffice to people if the infrastructure is not in
place, including the by-laws of the foundation.

Well, I believe, this is another point, the by-laws of the foundation.
It is not nessassary, that his goes "hand by hand", by-laws of the
foundation will take more time and ( I believe) even more discussion,
but this can be done independent of the structure and a "Fondation
Committee". This should be start working immediatly - and local
homepages should be settle up include all names of people, who are
responsible for local activities.

I would like to jump in here and support Thomas' last comment.

IMO, the focus right now should be on tangible efforts - getting local
meeting groups is to me the absolute key to long term success.

Getting local pages up, as a way to help these local groups meet up,
would be right there. Use the libreofficevols.status.net micro-blog,
this is a good tool for organizing local groups, meet-ups, etc.

So if you want a meetup in NY, or Oklahoma, use the tools here - start,
announce, be in a place for others to come to, put together a hand out,
use the tools here (yes said that twice)..but pick something and do it.

If you have a LUG in your area, go to a meeting, introduce yourself, be
prepared to tell people what we are up to, where they can find us.

You do not not need to speak for anyone beyond yourself - You support
FOSS, you support LibreOffice, you want to share something.

Titles - forgive me for speaking bluntly here - not important at this
juncture and the discussion of them is really just a distraction we
don't need. As for structure - EU has a bunch - well, who says we want
that same structure in the NA efforts. I for one would rather see a much
more grass roots organization, at least for libreOffice - seriously, we
need some titles of course, they will come in due time.

just some thoughts,

Drew
