For anyone interested in this topic (accessibility of PDF documents for those relying on screen readers), below is a link to a document prepared by Adobe addressing the many issues document designers need to consider when creating a PDF file. https://www.adobe.com/content/dam/acom/en/accessibility/pdfs/accessing-pdf-sr.pdf There is apparently a lot to consider. To be fair, this isn't limited to PDF files, although they seem to have unique problems not shared by other formats. This has been a very educational few days for me.
