Hello Tom

Nicely done :) You made an earlier post that had more ideas but i still haven't really had time to think about them.

Thanks for the kind words. Just to give you some perspective, I'm a retired hardware engineer and a reluctant convert to coding, but much enjoy Perl - Larry Wall has a major intellectual accomplishment in what he's achieved here, IMHO. My eyesight and coding skills are'nt up to much these days, but I like to encourage the Open Source movement where I can.

Seems like some very positive ideas :) I think probably other lists
would be able to handle the issues better.

OK, if you've any suggestions please let me know. Have no trouble joining (and abandoning) lists and forums. Most of this is off the top of my head, as you've probably gathered, and would need a good deal more focused thinking to yield a practical outcome. My fear is that the younger generation may not be up to it. Richard Stallman is undoubtedly the sort of fellow I'd find it impossible to get along with on a personal basis, but he's been a treasure for the OS movement and the XYZ Gens may never produce his like.

Perhaps post as feature requests using the bug-report process.

Hmm, an interesting thought, and thanks.

Cheers
Carl
