Hello all,
during the bug triaging contest I stumbled upon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45588. The reporter and
other discovered, that the use of the names for formatting marks are
not only inconsistent in the Germanophone UI and help, but also in
the English (and possibly therefor in other languages as well) ... :
( In the English UI you will find:

1. Insert > Formatting Mark - Non-breaking space
2. Tools > Options... > LibreOffice Writer > Formatting aids - Non-
breaking spaces
3. On https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Formatting_Aids#Non-
breaking_spaces Non-breaking spaces

a. Insert > Formatting Mark - Non-breaking hyphen
b. Tools > Options > LibreOffice Writer >Formatting Aids > Custom
Hyphens
c. On http://help.libreoffice.org/Writer/Shortcut_Keys_for_Writer
non-breaking dash or
https://help.libreoffice.org/Common/Formatting_Mark#Non-
breaking_hyphen

And so on ... :( You can find a laundry list from the reporter at
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45588#c6 ... But now I
would like to know, if it is possible to get them consistent to the
English UI. Do I have to open a bug for each of them? What would be
so right term to use for them? And how is this with other languages?
Do you have the same problem there?
Sorry for the inconvenience
Thomas.
