The images, suggested by Fabian, are clearly good alternatives that will 
address all of the complaints of the "iMac look-alike" monitors on the 
homepage.

Could we please use these?

I too am getting a little concerned that the images resemble too much 
Mac-like products. My first impression from the front page is that it is 
strange that the monitors look like Mac monitors and it is even more 
convincing when I go to the "Discover It" pages and see the same type of 
monitors.

Let's try to use a little common sense. If some of our larger FOSS 
contributor members are the first to raise a "red warning flag", then we 
should take a second look at it -- our project is rooted in FOSS. 
Secondly, I now see that Fabian has suggested concrete replacements for 
the monitors that are clearly NOT anything close to an "iMac" 
look-alike. I see no reason to not use these unless there are any 
copyright issues.

The page needs to pass the "smell-test". Test-try the page with a user 
who is aware of Mac products and ask them to comment on the page. If 
their initial response is that it is great/worrisome that we are using 
the iMac monitor on our site, then, the images need to be removed/replaced.

I am also of the opinion that there is too much of a "Mac-like" look to 
the monitors which IMO makes the pages too controversial, and will 
constantly be a matter of discussion on our mailing lists. The slides 
and "Discover it" section focus the eyes on the monitors, and this is 
usually not a problem. However, IMO, we need to look more like 
LibreOffice and less of a monitor product placement ad. So, perhaps a 
blend of monitor looks needs to be used.

We also need to remember that we have been asked to comment on the 
pages, and, not to build them if we disagree with the page makeup. The 
onus to update the page should not be put on the people who comment, 
otherwise this will defeat the purpose of asking for comments.

Clearly, the only real issue with the pages are with the use of a one 
design iMac-monitor look. There needs to be a good blend of monitor 
images that do not offer a Mac-look.
