Hi,

I think with this type of Bad Press and questions, it would be wise to
remove the Bit Coin option from the donation page.

I do not know what the future of that service will be, but it is "too
shaky" for LO to "promote it" as a way to donate to our cause.

To be honest, I was never a "fan" of the Bit Coin "service" and did not
think it was a good idea for alternative to regular ways of "money"
transfers between people and organizations/companies.

Bitcoins are a rather new mass payment service, which is used mostly by experts and "geeks", so to say. We have had _massive_ requests to set it up, and have invested quite some time and research into finding a payment provider that looks stable and safe.

Some of you might have seen the massive rise in Bitcoin's exchange rate, and indeed, it's an interesting phenomenon. That being said, even the German tax authorities now consider Bitcoins a valid payment method, which I see as a very good sign by itself, as tax authorities are usually quite hesitant to these kind of things.

So, while I would not promote Bitcoin as primary and most important donation method, I clearly would like to keep it. Rest assured that also the other payment methods have their drawbacks and are strange in certain aspects... everyone who had to deal with PayPal knows what I mean. :-)
