Sorry, everybody, I've tried to follow this thread, but I fear that some messages at an early stage
got lost. (I think I've now found most of them in the archives, but it didn't help a lot!)

I gather it revolves around changing the Reply-to field.

Can someone tell me what currently happens to the Reply-to field, what the options under discussion
are, and what will happen to the discuss list after the change?

Am I right in saying that the Reply-to field is currently replaced with the address of the list?
This results in moderated posters not getting a copy of the replies since their email address is
removed.

An additional complication is that many replies to moderated posts are themselves moderated.
Andreas Säger is a case in point. He's a prolific - and extremely informed - contributor, but all
his replies are moderated. Any mangling of his posts are going to remove the op, but ensure that
Andreas gets a copy of his own solution.

Personally, I favour the line taken by the author of the web-page referred to in an early that the
RFCs are well thought-out, and one should have a _very_ strong reason for messing with them. If we
continue to replace Reply-to with the list address, perhaps the handling of moderated posts could
send a message to the op suggesting they follow their thread on Nabble (and explaining why)? This
would, of course, piss Andreas and other frequent non-registered posters off no end unless an
exceptions list could be created.

I think, on the whole, educating our members to use Reply-All instead of Reply-To might be the way
to go although this begs the question of how and where the list address would be added, which in
itself is a form of mangling.
