Hi.

Hi!

Is there some practical limit to the number of rows specifically,
but columns too, that an LO Calc spreadsheet can have?

Yes. Maximum for rows is 2²⁰ rows, that is 1048576 rows.
I'm not sure about columns, but the newest version is supposed to
support more columns than previous versions.
Seems like the last column is AMJ. If in R1C1-mode it's 1024, so 1024
columns in LibreOffice 7.2.7.2.

I've run into this before with my checkbook. The spreadsheet is
arranged such that down is back in time, the current amount is at
the top. There's a formula in one column that calculates the
current amount in the account. This is where the problem happens. I
added some deposits this morning and in the new rows at the top in
the column which should calculate the amount in the account I get
the literal #VALUE.

The column with the formula worked perfectly up to this point. The
sheet has 2540 rows. I get there error gong from 2536 to 2537.

Without knowing anything about those formulas it's impossible to
answer this question, but 2500 rows should never be a problem. I have
a spreadsheet open right now in LibreOffice Calc that is 5064 rows
right now (adding one row each day) and I have no problems with it.
I'd guess some cell is corrupt or something is wrong with one of your
formulas, but since I don't have a clue what your formulas look like
I can't say anything more than that.

Kind regards

Johnny Rosenberg

As Johnny says, we probably need more information to help. #VALUE
normally means that the number is too big to fit in the space it is
allowed. You should be able to see the value by selecting the cell and
looking at the contents in the display above the top of the sheet. Or
make the cell bigger, or reduce the font size :)
