Hi,

Next week sounds great!

ok, I made myself a note to not forget it. :-)

Fair enough. All the info about tests will probably live on the wiki,
and I expect that I'll always have a local copy of any test data that
we shove into the system.

That would be really recommendable.

Please try to give us as much of a heads-up as possible about the VM
going down for updates, so that we can wrap up any in-progress
testing.

There's no day determined yet (I need at least Alex and Robert from the infra team to do the migration, so we have to find a suitable date), but when it's set, we'll inform the lists.

Well it's a bit more exciting when your system can magically disappear
at any time, isn't it? If you want to help us remember, you could
name the VM something like 'volatile' or 'unstable' :-)

I see it's a bit annoying, but then, there are already so many unmet dependencies (like missing documentation for productive VMs), that I only can commit myself to setting up a new VM when this is clearly marked as "can vanish any second". Otherwise, I would add another dependency which is not desirable... :)

I'll chat with Jonathan and we'll come up with a game plan for
testing. We'll probably do a little prep work and get familiar with
the tools on the volatile VM, then once there's a stable VM, we'll
invite more people to the testing party.

Thanks a lot! FYI, the VM will be based on Ubuntu 11.10 (after the migration, it will be 12.04).

Florian
