The main problem is well driven end user support. L.O and T.D.F are linked. ODF should be the primary objective and all related production content that can be implemented by all end users for all kind of needs.

Another pragmatic question:

The end user support is a "Board" question, decided by TDF and L.O Boards ?

If positive, now is the time to take this question under vote and have the oficial position how is going to be the end end user support for LibreOffice.

IIRC, phpbb has a security hole now and then. That would make it higher
maintenance in the long run.

phpbb as well works with mysql as well. and has quite strong security
measures which is another plus when it comes to moderation and antispam
measures.

I talked to Florian yesterday a bit via private email and he hinted hes familiar with phpbb. Why go with something that someone isnt familiar with?

Doesnt everythign have security holes. I think the best thing to do is use something that is familiar to someone on staff such as phpbb.

I agree i think the BOD needs to put this to a vote. But we dont have to limit the forum to LO only it can contain TDF forums as well. i honestly dont see a problem there.
The domain though would have to be somethign along the lines of forums.tdf.org or something like that especially if the TDF have a section in there and it being the parent organization of LO it makes sense to have a URL like that
