Hi :)
Ahhh, got it at last!!  Yes, you have to press enter while you are
still in the tiny font-selector box to make it accept the new number
that you just typed in.  Otherwise the program just assumes you were
speculating and had changed your mind.

Sorry i thought the problem was something else

I agree with Brad: clicking back into the document resets the font hitting
return after typing in the big font size does not reset the font.
