I worked on the Extras and Additional Software page and folder.

I took some packages out.
Found the Mac text editor is now paid only.
I added some to it.

The folder that holds the English versions of these Win, Linux, and Mac OSX
packages is about 253 MB. That makes this English N.A. DVD so far 4.1 GB
in size.
Not much room for any more packages [i.e. French and Spanish versions]

No sure if you would want to include Sunbird. It is no longer being developed by Mozilla. The development is now only happening on the Lightining extension.

No problem with the Spanish and French version for now, as there is so little space. Most of these have ES and FR versions. We are used to looking for the NL versions of software from lists. :-) and :-( at the same time.

I have been working on an English Free and Open Source package list.
http://www.lungstrom.com/list/
Since I moved over to Ubuntu for my desktop, I have not updated it,
much, in the past year. So I have this list. The German language version
had a German language site listed near the bottom of the page. It looks
like it is for an Open Source DVD

http://www.opensource-dvd.de <http://www.opensource-dvd.de>and here is
the English translation
<http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&langpair=auto%7Cen&u=http://www.opensource-dvd.de/&tbb=1&rurl=translate.google.com&usg=ALkJrhjD2rqIkWCEza-NMBjatYZltMSgog>
of that page.

I took that link out, since it is for a German language DVD. I wonder if
I should put in my free list link and some others that may be good to
use. I have not done that yet.

Wow, the German site is a busy looking site with an enormous amount of advertising. Your list looks fine. I imagine there are other lists, but then they would be built on their author's preferred tastes as well. As long as the page you put it on is not as busy as the German site. :-)

BTW ... I used to use ClamWin as my antivirus. I liked my clients to keep a hands on approach to virus checking, so ClamWin did not have all the bells and whistles but they had to be aware of what it did by being a little more involved in the process. www.ClamWin.com. Maybe you could add it.

BTW2 ... I usually use Klamav (KDE) to scan someone's hardrive for viruses if I am asked to *ugh* work on a Windows box. I just move the hardrive (in a USB box) to my Mandriva box and run Klamav on it. Works great.

Cheers

Marc

I oops-ed again.

The Spanish dictionary names [long Spanish names] files names were tool long for my Roxio burner to handle this time. Why it worked last, I do not know.

Second, my 4.1 gig disc size had some extra stuff in the main folder, so the Web Site folder [the one that I have all my web pages as sub-folders off from] gives me only 3.6 GB used.

The anti-virus free list is large for Windows. I use[d] AVG, Comodo, and Avast!. Windows Firewall is ZoneAlarm and Comodo. Right now I am using Comodo's complete Internet package [free version] on my Vista Laptop.

I wonder if putting my list site would be "proper". It is not a truly "professional" site, and not maintained often, but it has a lot of software listed on its page.

Then there are the Malware, Registry, and other cleaners. Defrag and other Utility packages. doPDF for Windows PDF printer. The list goes on. I decided 4 or 5 years ago to make a list off my lungstrom.com domain to keep it straight in my head and have a place to point people to. You are linked to the individual sites, not mine, for the actual download files. I did that so I would not have to keep it up-to-date with the most current versions of the install files.

My USB box that I bought to help move files from the old drive to the new one or new computer, broke a few years ago. I have not forked out the $25 or $30 to get the modern ones used for temp. drive setup with a "box" to put the drive into. I had a laptop that I could not fix, since it was so infected with virus and malware, I took the drive out of that laptop and plugged it into my Vista Laptop's USB port and cleaned all the mess up while that drive tried in vain to infect my laptop's drive. There were over 1000 malware, virus, and alike found on that Insurance man's drive. It seemed that he never heard of using an anti-virus package. I wonder how many people at his work place got infected from his laptop over the years.
