Getting Started Guide for LO 6.4

I have begun updating the Getting Started Guide from LO 6.0 to 6.4. I have
completed the Preface and Chapters 1, 2, and 3, which are in the Drafts
folder ready for others to review. (For this book, I am using Drafts,
Feedback, and Published folders.) I am now working on Chapter 4.

I recommend that the rest of you work on updating other books and leave me
to do this one. Of course, reviewing my work is also important. I’m aiming
to have all the chapters updated by the end of January or early February,
around the same time that 6.4 is released.

What is the right procedure for handling documents?

I am reviewing Dutch translations of the Calc guide now, but when I am done I will help reviewing the Getting started guide.

Hi Kees,

The concept is that the author who does the first update of a
chapter, or creates a new chapter, places their draft in the
Drafts folder. A reviewer then takes that draft and returns their
      review to the Feedback folder.

This workflow always worked reasonably well on ODF Authors, so
there did not seem to be any reason to change when we moved to
      Nextcloud.

Hi Jean,

I have taken the Preface and Chapter 1 for first review.

Regards,

Steve Fanning

Thanks Dave
I didn't know that.

I have completed a first review of these two items and returned them to the
Feedback folder.

I did the second review of the Preface and placed it into the Published folder.
I assume this is the right folder for a completed chapter.

Kind regards, Kees

Hello, team.

I would like to review OL Calc Guide 6.4 in the folder at some point this
week. I might not be able to access through the folder, but I might have a
certain time I can grab it.

Kees & Jean,

Just for the record I have rejected one of my own review comments in the
version in Published. On page 6, I had errioneously changed a button legend
from the correct US nomenclature ("Use LibreOffice dialogs") to the
inappropriate UK nomenclature.

Apologies for any confusion.

Regards,

Steve

If all tracked changes have been accepted and all comments resolved and
removed, the file goes in the Published folder. Otherwise, it goes back
into Feedback for someone (in this case, probably me) to make final
decisions.

Regards, Jean

Please start a new thread, with a relevant subject line and not by replying
to an existing thread, to make sure your question doesn’t get lost but does
get seen by someone who knows the answer (I don’t).

Regards, Jean

Jean,

As the file still contains my unaccepted review comments, I have moved it back to the Feedback folder.

Regards,

Steve

I am sorry. I didn't notice the tracked changes, because they were hidden.
I didn't realize the Show-option was disabled.
I now accepted the tracked changes and placed the file in the Published folder again.

It is telling me the "Server Not Found."

Is there a local Administrator for this server who could get my permissions
to access so I can review this set doc? Or is there a Linux wizard who is
more advice that might assist me in opening the Doc Folder at this time?

It appears that I am not allowed from running on Linux and Firefox last
version. The firewall is running several rules, but I do not think any of
those rules are relevant in this instance.

Hello,

what were you doing that lead you to this page?

You are not supposed to access that address via a browser. It will not work.

Were you logging into Nextcloud? Please give more details.

I have completed a first review of chapter 2 and returned the file to the
Feedback folder, including tracked changes and embedded comments. I have
checked it against 6.4 builds for both Linux and Windows installations. I
hope the changes and queries are helpful.

I recommend that Jean has a chance to review my changes and comments before
anybody else takes the chapter for a second review (and have added a
comment accordingly to the tracking spreadsheet).

I intend to do a final check tomorrow against a macOS installation for
completeness.

Regards,

Steve

I did a second review of chapter 1 and placed it into the Published folder.

Steve,
Thank you. I’ll should have time to go through it today.
Jean

Chapters 10 and 11 have been updated and are in the Drafts folder, ready
for review.

Jean

Steve,
Thank you for your review. It's a delight to work with someone who is
so thorough in catching my "oops, I forgot to replace that image" as
well as topics overlooked.
I agree with all your points and am making necessary changes. I need
to look up a few things.
