I think we need to update our guides on how to edit the guides?

This guide might be the most helpful one? It's a download

The wiki page references the downloads. I think the files on the wiki are the same as the ones on Alfresco (which are the working copies). the ODT you mention is only one chapter of several.

But yes, all need updating, some more than others.
