I just added OSCON to the US marketing list of conventions/events.
It's a conference on open source software development (with some
business sessions).  Attendence is somewhere around +2000 so it's a
somewhat 'big deal' conference.  I happen to live in Portland so it
would be very convenient for me to drop off marketing material, such as
brochures and CD/DVD's, at the 'freebie' table outside the Exhibition
Hall.  I think it's too late for a table (unless we can share one with
someone else?) but it might be better just to have some marketing
material available for attendees (especially CD/DVD's).

Hi Dona

Thanks for adding that.

Also, it sounds like you did a wonderful job at LFNW this year

we made contact with a rep. from O'Reilly at SCALE earlier this year.
The contact information was given to Italo and if not mistaken he did
try to touch base with him, though not sure about any results.

Adding Italo as cc to this email - @Italo, is this something you would
like to follow up on, to see if there is anyway to have a TDF table?

Otherwise, Dona the idea to drop off items for the general information
table sounds really good.

@Italo, is there any marketing budget at this point?

Best wishes

Drew

I'm surprised to find that LinuxFest Northwest is the only Fest
currently listed as an exhibitor. LFNW has been exhibiting for several
years and is well regarded at OSCON.

A couple of days ago, I told LFNW organizers that I would no longer be
part of its production. Simply put, there are other projects that have
higher priority for me.

I don't wish to contact the Fest Organizers with a request to include
LibreOffice in the LFNW booth at OSCON. However, properly worded, this
request might be well received coming from Dona, Italo or another of
the LibO marketing team. Having attended OSCON for several years, I've
got some other ideas for how to make something happen there.

If anyone is interested in pursuing this, please send me a private
message. There are ways to present the request to LFNW Organizers that
are likely to be successful.

Carl
