New DL-Page - request for updated Translations

Hi *,

as discussed previously on the website mailing list, the
Button-Download page will get a functionality facelift, and will be
integrated better with the donate page.

See
http://www.mail-archive.com/website@global.libreoffice.org/msg11340.html
and follow-ups for a description of the changes.

Some strings were changed/added, so if you could please provide
updated translations..

I received a couple via mail already. But far from the complete list :slight_smile:

See
https://github.com/tdf/cms-code/commit/6efa4d4492a5faf5fe53e1500f6900777c616aeb#diff-3

for the changed/added strings.
and http://staging.libreoffice.org/download/ for context of the strings.

Hello Christian, *,

thanks for your work :slight_smile:

I have read it, but I have some questions ... :wink:

There I found only en_US stings. Where do I find the ones for e.g.
German?

for the changed/added strings.
and http://staging.libreoffice.org/download/ for context of the
strings.

If I understood the discussion on the website list correctly, it
should be show something like "Your wanted download is not available
in this version/language/something", or am I wrong? If I click on
http://staging.libreoffice.org/download/?type=box&version=4.0.4&lang=de,
I get
<quote>
Selected: LibreOffice CD/DVD-images, version 4.0.4, German
</quote>
(which did not exist), but on the download button is the text
<quote>
LO-4.0.4_English-NA-DVD_All-Platforms_Multi-Lang_plus-extras.iso
</quote>
plus the link to http://staging.libreoffice.org/get-
involved/donate/dl/box/4.0.4/multi/LO-4.0.4_English-NA-DVD_All-
Platforms_Multi-Lang_plus-extras.iso?idx=1 ... :frowning: Is it intended, or
did I get something wrong?
Sorry for the inconvenience
Thomas.

Hi Thomas, *,

Hello Christian, *,

See

If no translations will be provided by you or other people, the german
translation will be done by myself.
And if you look at the subject of the mail: the goal is to make people
provide the translations :slight_smile:

for the changed/added strings.
and http://staging.libreoffice.org/download/ for context of the
strings.

If I understood the discussion on the website list correctly, it
should be show something like "Your wanted download is not available
in this version/language/something", or am I wrong?

yes.

If I click on
http://staging.libreoffice.org/download/?type=box&version=4.0.4&lang=de,
I get
<quote>
Selected: LibreOffice CD/DVD-images, version 4.0.4, German
</quote>
(which did not exist), but on the download button is the text
<quote>
LO-4.0.4_English-NA-DVD_All-Platforms_Multi-Lang_plus-extras.iso
</quote>

Well - the boxes are both multi lang, so they show up no matter what
language is selected when you pick the box. The NA-DVD would allow to
install LO in german, so that's why it is also shown.

If you want to see the "no regular downloads" string, use something like

http://staging.libreoffice.org/download/?type=win-x86&version=3.6.5

i.e. there is a portable version of 3.6.5 still on the mirrors (and
thus available on the dl-page), but the main downloads are already
moved to old, since 3.6.6 is current.

plus the link to http://staging.libreoffice.org/get-
involved/donate/dl/box/4.0.4/multi/LO-4.0.4_English-NA-DVD_All-
Platforms_Multi-Lang_plus-extras.iso?idx=1 ... :frowning: Is it intended, or
did I get something wrong?

That's the point - to integrate it to the donation page. If you click
on it, you are on the Donate page that will start the download via
meta-refresh.

"Your download LO-4.0.4_English-NA-DVD_All-Platforms_Multi-Lang_plus-extras.iso
should begin shortly. Please click the link in case it doesn't start."
(the filename is the link)

In the case for multiple downloads (like additional help and/or
languagepacks, or additional source tarballs), the donate-page will
also offer those as buttons, so you don't have to go back to download
those supplemental/optional files.

On the main site, it would point to
donate.libreoffice.org/<whateverlanguage>/....

I don't need help for german, but I would be stupid to not accept help :slight_smile:

But than there is another question: Should this bracketed strings be
translated as well (e.g. ['DEFAULT_CURRENCY'] or 'DonatePage'])?

No, those are the IDs that identify the string/by which they are
referenced by silverstripe. Only the strings right to the equal sign
matters.

And I only need translations for the items marked green in the diff I
linked. The other strings are already in pootle and should have been
translated already.

And should we send translations to this list or to your private mail
address?

Whatever you prefer. If you're in doubt of duplicating work, then
sending a notice that you will provide translation for language xy
might be helpful, if you're very likely the only one submitting a
translation, it doesn't really matter :slight_smile:

Hello, L10n,

to satisfy the request quoted below, I've just updated the website
project on Pootle to contain new strings. The update brings 71 new
words. Please update your translations by the end of this week, so that
I can make a pull request early next week.

Regards!

Don´t you think we need some space in "downloadarchive" ?

And I´ve also find that "Belarussian" is duplicated.

Hello,

downloadarchive</a>.

yes, indeed - the correct English text should be "download archive".

Florian

Hi,

but the spaces get replaced by %20 so it's really
http://download%20archive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old

no, the URL is without the space - but the text it links to should be with. In HTML style:

<a href="http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org">download archive</a>

Florian

Hi :slight_smile:

Spaces get confusing in a url.  When you give people links in printed materials the blue underling obscures underscores so it's never clear whether a space is an underscore or really a space.  Then sometimes spaces get replaced by %20.  We have seen cases where the % then gets replaced by a %25.  All making the url harder to read and remember.

I tend to find CamelCase becomes quite readable so

http://DownloadArchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old
is more practical and more readable.

Hi all,

I just made a pull request: https://github.com/tdf/cms-code/pull/10.
This updates the existing translations and adds some new ones.
