Hi Marc

Maybe burn half with one and then the other? Then let people pick the
style they would like and see how many are left over from the pile.

This is not a burn issue, but rather one of printing. From my
tradeshow experience, people who want Free Stuff aren't particularly
picky, nor are they necessarily people with good design sense.

I plan to have them in jewel case with a cover - I can't afford to make
all that many - on the German list, for the CBit show, they asked for a
3,000 euro donation to cover printing discs alone, next day they
announced they would have discs. Having 50 DVD professionally printed w/
covers and jewel cases will run $265.00. If anyone wants to offer to
pick that up it would be great? Of course if you want to cover more then
50 that would be great also.

I'll try to, but can't say for certain tonight, otherwise it will be
press on labels and jewel case covers via the inkjet. Either way I would
really prefer to just run one design as a batch.

Thanks

Drew

Thank you for doing this, Drew. What you've already done and planned
is generous.

No problem. I would have been interested on people's opinion on the design.
As for the donations for printing, still something to wish for. Who knows,
maybe by this time next year we will be basking in funds for conferences.
Looks like your inkjet is set for a good workout.

BTW ... thanks for all of this work for the SCALE meet. It is well
appreciated. Same goes for all of the team at SCALE. Take lots of photos for
the blogs. It would be nice for the rest of us to see.

Cheers

Marc

Techies and others with open source experience are most likely to
download or install LibreOffice from repositories. People who obtain
LibreOffice with a DVD are most likely new to the game. So the DVDs
primarily appeal to new users (as well as anyone who wants a tangible
memento of the event). They are conversation starters for booth
visitors in addition.

So...the cool look and good design support the memento effect, and
attract attention of newcomers. It's really the newcomers that we want
to reach. So the DVDs should be visually appealing, give LibreOffice a
polished look, and have adequate information so as to land squarely
with the newcomers.

Thank you for the opening to think about this. Ideas to implement at
LinuxFest Northwest too.
