Hi :)
You can use Nabble to upload/attach a file. This is a public list tho so
please avoid uploading anything confidential such as people names and
addresses or bank account details. Just use the links in this email to get
directly into the right thread in Nabble or else you could get into Nabble
from the official Libreoffice website and then navigate to this thread.

Jay is right about the important things. He meant ISO standard rather than
ODF. Microsoft apparently pushed through DocX as an ISO format but then
their implementation is fairly different from that ISO.

Also Jay missed another couple of options
4. Ask the person that sent the DocX to send it in a non-proprietary
format. In MS Office 2007
GoldenGlobe/ "Office button" - "Save As .." - "OpenDocument Format"
In MS Office 2010
File - "Save As ..." - "OpenDocument Format"
5. Ask your buddy that has OpenOffice to save in OpenDocument Format (odt
is equivalent to docX)
6. Install OpenOffice alongside LibreOffice so that you can go back to OOo
for odd broken documents from the same person in the future

For his 1 you could create a copy of the document, rename it so that docX is
changed to .zip then just double-clicking on the file should open it. In
Windows you would probably need to change "Folder options" to not "hide
file-extensions of well known file types". SO, it might be easier to
right-click on the docX and choose "Open with" to choose an archive manager
program such as WinZip or WinRar or something.

Tom :)
