[steering-discuss] proofreading the German bylaws

Hello,

as pointed out in the latest blog entry (http://blog.documentfoundation.org/2011/04/20/status-quo-on-the-foundation-part-ii/), the next step for legally setting up the Foundation is that those who speak German should proofread the current translation of the bylaws, as these will serve as basis for the legally binding statutes.

It is based on the original from http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/CommunityBylaws

I would like to ask all of you who speak German to help us in proofreading.

1. Are the translations correct?
2. Does the translation keep the spirit of the English original version?
3. Did you find any mistakes?
4. Are there open questions?

I do *not* want to open discussion on the contents of the bylaws again, but I would like to have your feedback if the translation fits the original.

I had another read through the bylaws, and there is one section that
might be usefully updated: Continuity of Membership.

The clause granting merit for past OOo contributions and qualifying
former OOo people is surely past now? Does that clause still have
utility?

IMHO, it needs updating, with the date moving forward to be more
relevant.

hm... why would this need adaption? I guess the paragraph was meant to support those people who joined us in the early days, i.e. three months after we started TDF and LibreOffice.

Anyone recalls when the bylaws had been finalized in their current state? How much time between this date and December 31st (as mentioned in the bylaws) did people have?

If we approved the bylaws shortly before or even after December 31st, it makes sense to adapt that date, but if not, I'm a bit undetermined, if we need it at all... the rationale behind it was that people joining TDF early would have a "benefit", IMHO.

I think the date should stay as is. Anything that changes would need to be added as an amendment to the bylaws which were originally created when the TDF started?

IIRC, it was around December 10 or shortly before.

If we approved the bylaws shortly before or even after December 31st, it

My 2 cents would be that it's not fair on new contributors who started
with the project after the project launch to forever give free
entrance to people from OOo.
