Screen Shots

Hi :frowning:
Aaargh, i forwarded the wrong email last time so i have made a real mess of the threading and the contents was a bit crazy too. Please just ignore my previous email so it can die quietly!

This one should have broken the topic out into a new thread.
Apols and regards from

Hi again, sorry

Ok, last time i only got as far as trying the Radiance and Adwaita themes.
Radiance seemed to be more along the lines of LibreOffice with gorgeous
oranges and rounded edges but the Adwaita looked more like OpenOffice on
Win98.

I only have 11.10 in a virtual machine and have not really worked out how to
use it. When i tried 11.04 on bare metal my graphics card couldn't handle
Unity but now in a VM it can handle 11.10's Unity. I can't work out how to
install themes or anything else in unity and annoyingly just started it
updating everything [sigh] sorry. So, i think that's about where i got
stuck last time too.

No worries, Tom. Someone will figure it out, or not, or we'll find an
alternative.

BTW, I've started taking some screenshots on my Mac because the
contrast is good and I can't be bothered to try to get things working
on Ubuntu. So some chapters now have a random collection of
screenshots from Windows, Ubuntu, and Mac. I don't think it's a drama,
though I realise some people take a different viewpoint. Not that it's
obvious in some cases which o/s was used.

Hi
I think it is not such a big deal now. Back when Oracle owned OpenOffice and were being hostile it was prudent to get ahead of any potential threat. I think it's still worth avoiding using Windows screen-shots. MS are unlikely to cave-in so easily! Mac don't have a competing product. Well, not one that is a significant part of their income.

So i think the only issue is about how consistent the chapters and guides are with each other and i think sticking to Gnu&Linux and Mac gives a reasonable result.
