Template 7.x update

Hi Team
I have updated the template following the meeting this last Thursday
June 4th.

I admit the bullet and numbering lists is not yet perfect, It has
challenged me for some hours and included chasing a bug that messed with
list bullet position vs paragraph indentation.

file is template7a_OH.ott in the /Contributor Resource/ folder.

Hello

The bullet and numbered lists need a slight change only.

Space below paragraphs should be 0.15cm for all bullet and numbered points. This spacing below paragraphs will make any bullet or number points appear closer together making it easier to recognise a list.

Character used for bullet point in List 2 should be changed to an EN dash. This will make more noticeable.

Numbering is fine using numeric for Number 1 and Alph for Number 2.

Hello Olivier

When I paste text into a bullet or numbered para, the para moves one indent to the right, which is annoying.
My solution is to click on the bullet or number icon on the Formatting toolbar. The para moves back to normal position for that level of bullet or number point.
This could be a bug, but I have not yet tested this in a blank Writer document that does not use the LO template.

Hello Peter
I think you hit the same bug as me.

HI Peter
Changes applied to template

Olivier

I have just created a draft version of the Preface Impress Guide Version 7.0 using the new 7.0 templet that Olivier has created.

I do now have questions.

1. Why change the colour for headings? There is a different colour for each LO module. What is wrong with one colour for all modules to help create a corporate identity?

2. Why change the font used for text to a serif font and keep a sans serif font for headings? Using a mix of font faces does not look professional. In my opinion, a serif font never looks good on monitor and this is where user guides will be mostly read. Also, LibreOffice uses a sans serif in the menus and dialogs. Always looks better to match fonts.

I totally agree, Peter.
Design should be left to professionals. The points you raise are 101 design
axioms.

Hello Martin

I am a professional brought up in the old school of actually printing user guides.
The template used is not really designed for printing of user guides, but for electronic use, that is PDF files or ODT files.
In a printed user guide, the chapter page would be a right page followed by a blank page. First page of text in a chapter should always start on a right (also known as odd or recto) page. This is old school printing.
I just feel the proposed template7a_OH.ott is change for change sake. The template used for Version 6 is good, but does need a little improvement.
