PING Dan Lewis: Base Guide Chapter 1 reviewed

I have now reviewed this chapter, made some edits, and left some
comments and questions. The file is in Alfresco, Base Guide > Drafts,
BG3401-IntroducingBase_JHW_29Nov2011.

Great work! I'm looking forward to Chapter 2, when you think it's
ready for me to take a lash at it.

--Jean

I just change the status to Edit Offline, downloaded it, and changed the
check out status from you to me (changed the date to).

I have gone through all your suggestions and agreed with them. I
have also changed the screenshots. I added a Tip with info that was
contained in the reply to Helen's comments. (I made another comment
there after writing the the Tip. I rewrote the paragraph at the end of
the chapter about forms and Xforms. When I did this, I turned on Change

Record so you could see quickly what I had written.

(I do have a habit of deleting comments after making the changes
suggested in them. Perhaps I should not do this?)

--Dan

I also delete comments after making changes, so I approve.

I've now made a final pass through the chapter, tweaking a few things
like paragraphs in the wrong para style (eg Default instead of
OOoTextBody) and have moved the result to the Proofing folder. I
consider it ready to publish, since Hazel has already had a pass
through it, so if you like I'll move it directly to Published (wearing
my Publisher's Hat of Approval).

--Jean

Please do. Now I can concentrate on Chapter 2. I "only" have the
design section to finish.

--Dan

Now I have egg on my face! I was filing a bug report for the Table
Wizard this morning. I double checked the what the wizard does in both
OOo and LO. Turns out that LO has fixed this bug, but OOo has not. So, I
am downloading your version to the part about this bug from the chapter.
I will be uploading the chapter to the Draft folder when this is
completed.

Hi
Ahh, another of those people that do 20 fantastic things perfectly and have a slight hiccup on 1 minor issue and then only take notice of the 1 slight error.  Remember that bug-triagers can cope with all sorts of strangeness and recognise that along with other people here you are doing great stuff that is much appreciated even if we don't all say so.
Regards from
Tom

I have corrected the error which required the rewrite of the "Use
Table Design View or SQL to create a table". I change a couple of
screenshots and added a couple to illustrate the rewrite.
The corrected version is now uploaded to the Proofing folder ready
for your attention.

Additional note: I have change the License paragraph on the
Copyright page to the following:

"This document is Copyright © 2011 by its contributors as listed below.

Yes, I have written permission by all who contributed who work on
OOo documents. Given what has been written about the AL license, I would
prefer to add that later if the objections to the Apache license can be
shown not to matter. I also have permission to add the AL license later
with the exception of Helen, who has not yet responded to my request for
changing to the AL CC-CA-SA dual licenses.

Your additions to this paragraph were in the wrong font, so I have
fixed that and a few odd page breaks, created a PDF, and placed both
the ODT and the PDF in the Published folder. I'll put them on the wiki
later.

One possibility is to put that on the OOo version of the chapter but
not on the LO version?

changing to the AL CC-CA-SA dual licenses.

Do you mean Hazel?
