Sigh.

This is a big fail. When we decided to go for owncloud, the basic idea was to have something that
would let people download freely and publicly from it, yet requiring credentials for upload. Silly
me, I just found out you must login to even access the common folder on Owncloud.

The problem is almost no one is interested in getting credentials so no one is checking up what I
am uploading.

We were told that Owncloud would be perfect. It is not and is near useless. Really I don't need
owncloud to sync files between my two computers. Starting from now I will be uploading the specs on
my dropbox. It won't help with collaborative work but at least everyone will be able to download
documents.

1. Please tell me when and who said "ownCloud would be perfect".

2. If I go to http://owncloud.documentfoundation.org/common and click myself through to https://owncloud.documentfoundation.org/public.php?service=files&t=3b219f29a1b7057eeca23ecc6d3d4d84&path=/Website/2013_Website_Redesign it works like a charm. Please try again and let me know if it does so for you.

It is by _NO_ means appropriate nor helpful to blame the people who work night and day to provide tools and infrastructure by telling their tools are "near useless".

Florian
