Update on Ubuntu18

Anyone familiar with updating from LibreOffice 6.0 to 6.4, on Ubuntu 18.04?
I am used to using the terminal, using Bash, as I do most administrative
things in my OS from there.

I already added the LibreOffice PPA and updated my system. I saw
LibreOffice 6.4 all over the place when the update was happening, so I
think things were updated properly. However, when I do libreoffice
--version, it says I am still on 6.0

Anyone know how I can update from 6.0 to 6.4, in Ubuntu 18.04?

At a guess, you would probably have to purge the 6.0 installation first
before installing from a PPA for 6.4...

I think you may have found a bug. I have both LibreOffice 7.0.0.2 and 6.4.5.2 installed. I have LibreOffice Base 6.4.5.2 in my Dash as a favorite. Yet, When I bring the cursor over its icon, the popup window shows LibreOffice 7.0 Base. But when I use Help > About LibreOffice, I see LibreOffice 6.4.5.2.

There is one other difference that I have. When I install a version of LibreOffice, I modify the bootstraprc file to rename the folder containing the configuration files in the home folder (.../.config/libreoffice/). I replace the 4 on the last line with the actual number of the LO version. For example, my .../.config/libreoffice forlder contains these folders: 6.3, 6.4, 7.0. This allows me to run all three versions at the same time if necessary.

I think I'll give that and some other things a try on a VM before I do
anything on my main computer. I am in the middle of reviewing one of the
chapters, and I would hate to bork my LO install when I really need it to
work.
