It is easy to create a table in design view. It is even easier to create a
table in SQL. Certain features are only accessible through SQL.

Obviously, people disagree on these points. Some of it is a matter of personal experience. I prefer to create a table using design view, because I find it a bit limiting. However, if I am creating a table with a composite primary key, I find the table wizard useful. As far as creating a table in SQL, it all depends upon your typing ability. I tend to make too many mistakes to use this method. Although typing the SQL statements in a plain text editor and making corrections helps. The copying the statements into the SQL dialog (Tools > SQL) then works as it should. So for people like me, using SQL is harder than using design view and much more error prone. I get too many errors with no idea as to why.
     My suggestions:
1) If you are just beginning to use Base and are not well versed in how databases work, you probably should download the Getting Started Guide for LO. (Or you could just download the "Getting Started with Base" chapter):

2) If you understand how to create tables, design view might be a good choice to use. 3) If you understand SQL, use it. You will need to get the HSQLDB user guide version 1.8. I'm not sure where you can get it though; perhaps someone else knows.
