Hi :)
Yes, i vaguely remember someone saying it dated back to around 2.0.  Hopefully as the code becomes
clearer and more streamlined then it might become easier to trouble-shoot or even find problems
just disappear as cruft gets cleared.
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Hi :)
It's rare but it happens.  Try this to work-around the problem
"
A simpler solution is to make a small change (to activate the save icon)
immediately after loading and then save the file. Once it has been saved by
hand, auto-saving no longer does any harm.
Yes, I am using this workaround. Always have a working backup. But it is a workaround not a
solution.

It's a bug.  Well, more than 1 bug it seems.  Being so rare makes it
difficult to trouble-shoot down to a single set of circumstances and some
serious attempts to do so over the years have just shown that there are
several different circumstances but it is practically impossible to separate
out one single set from the others.
Fine.
Good to know it is a bug.
Yes, it is very difficult to trace occasional errors.  At the moment I have three computers with
different settings running LO 4.0 . In the late 2 or 3 days no errors.
There must be a conflict somewhere, but very difficult to trace. :-(
The Microsoft solution is: update the drivers and restart your computer. Someone get surprised?
(Of course it does not help at all).

As I told, I got the error in OpenOffice too. It is not a specific LO error.

Have you ever played Cluedo and got it down to either being Prof Plum or
Miss Scarlett with either the candlestick or the lead piping and known that
if it is the lead piping then it's definitely Prof Plum but if it's the
candlestick then it could be either of them.  Add in several dozen other
factors and it starts to get tricky.
Never played. But I see the point.
